Don’t Give Up Your Calling

myauthenticme Nov 09, 2020

In our society today, there is a characteristic that is not common to most people – perseverance! The human default reaction to difficult times in life is to give up and go another direction. However, if you are going to succeed in life you have to have the intestinal fortitude to face tough times & NOT give up and give in into your fears.  We live in a broken world and life can be hard & unfair. There will be situations when you come up against a great wall of trouble! Many of us hate this and will just want to throw our hands in the air and give up.

To give up means to give over or give into the control or possession of another. To give up means to stop doing something permanently. In life when we stop seeking what is next we shut off any avenue of growth or improvement. The purpose of this blog is to encourage you to NOT give up!

There’s nothing that you can ever be in life that is greater than doing what you were...

Judas Ate Too

myauthenticme Oct 26, 2020

Really take the time and think about this.  Jesus knew.

He goes into that room with His disciples. He knows He is going to be betrayed. He knows it is Judas who will turn against him. He knows that He has been sold out for a handful of silver. Stabbed in the back by one He has poured His life into.
Yet, in that room, hours before the death of Jesus, Judas ate too. Jesus fed Judas too. Jesus prayed for Judas too. Jesus washed Judas’ feet too. I struggle to fathom that kind of love. A love that would feed the mouth that deceived you. A love that would wash the treasonous feet of the traitor. A love that could forgive even the vilest of betrayals.
I honestly struggle to comprehend it. And then, suddenly, I realize that I’m Judas. And in that moment, I’m so thankful & altogether overwhelmed that Judas ate too.”

I thought I had “mastered” the skill of forgiving. My motto was “let go and let God.” Compared...

Stop Using Scripture to Spew Your Hate

my authentic me Oct 12, 2020

In my last blog I spoke about fighting spiritual battles with weapons of the flesh.  Since then I have seen more people spewing hate while quoting scripture.  The two just do not go hand in hand.  This is a prime example of fighting with the wrong weapons.  God is a God of love and not hate. We cannot go around using His word as a tool to preach our own agenda and slap the name of the Lord on it.

This is a season where His children are supposed to be the light of the world.  Instead too many are a stumbling block for others.  Almost daily we can see a fight where believer is against believer.  Family member against family member and friend against friend.  You see verbal and physical altercations over the silliest of matters. (Wearing a mask for instance or what political party you are in)  People quote scripture to make a point why someone with an opposing view is “not saved” or that they are bound for hell. You see His...

Stop Fighting Spiritual Battles With Worldly Weapons

myauthenticme Sep 28, 2020

In my last blog I spoke about getting back to the basics.  Showing the foundation skills of human kindness.  Patience, love, and grace just to name a few.  I don’t know about you, but I am tired of the hate and slander that many people from ALL walks of life are displaying.

From believer to nonbeliever and Republican to Democrat it seems that people are more focused on proving they are right instead of bringing forth authentic change.  As a former educator, to me, people participating in these exploits sound like my class of pre-k students fighting over a toy. The sad thing it is grown people behaving this way!

I refuse to play a part of this ridiculous behavior.  I am here to shine a different light on the situation going on in our world.  I am sure I am not the only one that sees this, but we are fighting a battle of the mind with weapons of the flesh. Never in history has this worked, so I am not sure why people ( Christians...

Back To Basics

myauthenticme Sep 14, 2020

No one can deny that  2020 has been the most difficult year that any of us have ever seen.  It has felt like around every corner there is a new bomb dropped. At best the atmosphere seems unstable and chaotic It is hard to see the light in the midst of all the darkness. It is enough to drive just about anyone mad.

I am sure we all have noticed people that were once kind and patient turn into a hostile and hatred individuals.  Personally I have been confronted by strangers who scream at me for having 16 items in the 15 items or less check out line.  I have witnessed people that were once considered friends turn on each other over wearing a mask.  We all have witnessed or experienced some pretty hateful behavior.

We are all being tried during this season.  Everyone of us is under pressure from all angles.  No one is denying that.  My concern comes in when we as a society start turning on one...

I Am...

myauthenticme Aug 31, 2020

Have you or  someone else ever asked want you want in life?  Have you ever been faced with the question how or why you think a certain way?  Could you answer these questions without thinking to much about them? Most of us have faced these questions, and to be honest, the majority of us are flustered with an answer.

The truth is the the vast amount of people do not know who they are at their core.  Nor do can they put into words why there are the way they are.  During 2020 God has forced us into a season to answer the I am...  He is shutting down the world so we are faced with our fears, demons, pain, blessings, and authentic desires.  This is a season of waiting and it is not the most comfortable place to be in. Almost everyone of us does not like sitting alone with their own thoughts.  That is why you find so many on their phones, laptops, social media, or t.v. all of the time.  We are a society that needs constant and consistent...

Grace Doesn’t Always Look Gracious

my authentic me Aug 24, 2020

This season is calling us to pass this test once and for all.  God is asking us to reach a level that most of us have never seen. He needs us to master this level so we can be used for the next chapter.  Our current mindsets and behaviors will not make it where He is moving us. Many have struggled with the same issue(s) and demons for decades.  God has given you chance after chance to slay that giant, but we fail to do so. We can longer pay the sale’s price for grace.  God has freely given us chance after chance to overcome whatever our struggles have been.  He has shown us patience beyond our understanding because that is they kind of God we serve.  He gives freely without asking anything in return.

We are now entering a season where we can no longer get everything on credit.  God is asking ( not making) us to step into a realm where we no longer battle the same old same old.  He is asking us to enter into a dimension with  Him...

Live In Your New Normal

my authentic me Aug 10, 2020

There is no denying many of us have been going through the most difficult times of our lives these last few months.  It seems around every corner we are taking another direct punch to the gut. However, many of us are also being pulled to come out a different version of ourselves.  We know that this season is requiring us to step up our game.  Situations, people, and jobs that use to fulfill us no longer seem relevant. If you have been following my blogs you will know that we are going through the cycle of transformation.

God is evolving every aspect of who we are.  He is changing mindsets, thought processes, and so much more.  If you are like me, than you have had quite the emotional and physical roller coaster ride during this process.  Hopefully it is one you do not want to have to go through again.  I know I don’t.  As we start to emerge and head back out into the world I want to make sure you take the new you along. ...

The Cycle Of Transformation

my authentic me Jul 27, 2020

Lately I  have been thinking about all the changes and stages that we go through in a lifetime. If We are in a constant state of growth. (If we allow it to occur)  Just when we think that we have a life mastered we find ourselves reaching for the next  level. We are going from glory to glory. For those of us that choose to follow this path there is a cycle that we follow.  It is like the metamorphosis of a butterfly.  We go through a  transformation.  It is hard, but so worth it.  Of course we are constantly changing, but the process does not.

I started listing what I thought were the steps to a cycle of transformation a few months ago. To be honest I was having a difficult time putting pen to paper.  I had a few things written down, but it was not until I heard my Pastor, Toure Roberts, preach on a very similar topic that things clicked. I thank God for him because he gave me the words that I could not find.

Top 5 Ways Our Memories Keep Us From Progress

your authentic you Jul 22, 2020

When most of us think of memories we usually try to ponder fond days at the lake or spending time with family and friends. When some think of memories unfortunately, they go to darker places filled with fear and anxiety. Have you ever stopped to consider what memories are and how they can affect our everyday lives? Oh I'm not downplaying the importance of remembering. The problem lies in the obscure, remote, and often unknown ways your memories keep us from progressing towards our goals and dreams.

Did you know that how you think and how you feel unite to comprise a series of electrical and chemical neurological impulse combinations to create your State of Being? And these mental and emotional concoctions of the brain are as addictive as any drug known to man (both legal and illegal).

When it comes to who we are and what gives us true joy and peace we are compelled to consider what thoughts, ideas, and feelings led us to where we are today.

It is important to have...
